Resumes really only tell half the story. Here's what you really wanted to know about Jessica Boucher!
What are your professional objectives?
Right now, I am looking to become a marketing professional with an innovative and healthy company, using my skills to help the company achieve great things while learning from the best in the business.
As for the long term, after obtaining a Master's Degree I would like to eventually become a Brand or Product Manager and help shape the marketing plans of a company towards a new level of success.
What do you consider to be your strengths?
I
believe that my strengths fall into three major areas.
Marketing Skills: Above all, I am a
marketer. I have experience in the preliminary stages of utilizing market
research to shape a product and it's message to the consumer, but I also
have lots of experience in the details - event planning, presentations,
and coming up with innovative ways to grab attention without spending a lot
of money.
Learning Skills: I have a knack for being perceptive of any situation and
learning to adapt to work with it well. When I was young, I found that I was
very good at understanding things and being able to adapt them to the
situation. This is most easily shown in my ability with technology, but it
goes beyond that to encompass products, situations, and people.
Teamwork Skills:
I found early on that I thrive in an environment that involves working with
other people. Not only am I an excellent
facilitator, but I take joy in walking out of a meeting feeling productive,
no matter what role I have in the group. In my informational interviews with
marketing professionals, I have concluded that meetings are a huge part of
everyone's day, and I consider my desire to be in that environment to be a
major strength.
Why create a website about yourself?
I fully believe that just having a resume out there while job hunting is only doing half the job. I wanted to showcase myself in a way that goes beyond the resume, highlighting the whole person in a format that is not only easy-to-digest but is designed to work on the majority of computers.
What have you been doing with yourself since graduation?
More than you would think! Graduating has allowed me to stretch my legs and apply my skills in new ways. My main project has been working with the FIRST Robotics Competition on a variety of projects to expand the involvement in the New England region. This has involved launching New England FIRST as a regional organization, creating a conference that is expected to have about 250 attendees, and helping both the Boston and Hartford Regional Committees, which will each serve an average of 3,000 guests in March. My favorite part has been working on turning the organization into a strong entity in everything from the colors in the logo to harnessing the right words to rebuild faith in a region that has been dormant for the past few years.
Also, since I have spent the last four summers at Babson working full-time, this has been a perfect time to re-connect with my family. Needless to say, this time off has left me recharged and ready to jump head first into the work force!
What do you like to do in your free time?
In the summer months I am a very active individual. I enjoy kayaking, rollerblading, cycling, and jogging. One day I hope to participate in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, a state-wide cycling fundraising event. But, living in New England forces you to have some indoor activities during the winter, so I also enjoy vintage
book collecting, crocheting, and reading. Along with my weekly read of the Sunday New York Times, I recently finished
The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding.
